Overview
The Town of Lockeport is committed to building a community where everyone feels respected, safe, and included.
Under Nova Scotia’s Dismantling Racism and Hate Act (2022), municipalities are required to develop plans to address systemic racism and inequity in public policies, programs, and services.
In partnership with the Municipality of the District of Shelburne and the Town of Shelburne, Lockeport has adopted a regional Equity & Anti-Racism Plan and participates in a regional advisory committee to support this work.
Eastern Shelburne County Equity & Anti-Racism Plan
The Eastern Shelburne County Equity & Anti-Racism Plan is a joint plan approved by all three municipal units and submitted to the Province of Nova Scotia.
The plan outlines actions to identify and remove barriers, strengthen inclusion, and promote fairness across our communities.
Eastern Shelburne County Equity & Anti-Racism Advisory Committee (EAR)
The Eastern Shelburne County Equity & Anti-Racism Advisory Committee supports implementation of the regional plan.
The Committee provides advice and recommendations to participating municipalities and helps guide engagement and education efforts related to equity and anti-racism.
